Introduction Physical activity and exercise are topics that everyone knows they should do, but many do not know how much to do that will be beneficial for them or they know but choose or have to be inactive. First, physical activity is different from exercise; physical activity is any movement an individual does, whereas, exercise is intentional or specific movements to increase fitness. According to the 2008 Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans, a government funding association, adult, children, and others with special care needs have different guidelines. Since we are focusing on first-year college students, the adult guidelines are to achieve 150 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity or 75 minutes of vigorous intensity or an equivalent combination per week. These minutes need to come in ten-minute bouts or they do not count towards the goal.
