Topic Proposal

  1. According to dictionary.com a gap year is a period, typically an academic year, taken by a student as a break between secondary school and higher education. Many students go to college right after they graduate from high school not knowing what they want to do with their life. Many students change their major their first year to years of college. This could add more schooling or more work in the long run, if you do not stick in your first or second major chosen. More students should take a gap year to figure out what they want to do for the rest of their life and could possibly travel or work before going to college to get some experience. I chose this topic because I never really heard of a gap year that people actually take them. My advisor asked if I wanted to take a gap year between undergraduate and graduate college. I do not think gap years are necessary in-between undergraduate and graduate, but should be highly recommended for graduated high school students should take a gap year.

Introduction Physical activity and exercise are topics that everyone knows they should do, but many do not know how much to do that will be beneficial for them or they know but choose or have to be inactive. First, physical activity is different from exercise; physical activity is any movement an individual does, whereas, exercise is intentional or specific movements to increase fitness. According to the 2008 Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans, a government funding association, adult, children, and others with special care needs have different guidelines. Since we are focusing on first-year college students, the adult guidelines are to achieve 150 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity or 75 minutes of vigorous intensity or an equivalent combination per week.
