Outline for Speech 2

Title: Gap Year between high school senior and freshman in college

Introduction Hook: How many of you have changed your major or have thought about changing it?
 Problem:

  • What are you going to do with your life?
  • Are you going to love the job you chose at age 17 or 18? That is a lot of pressure on a high school student.
  • If I switch my major, how far does that set me back?
These are all questions we ask ourselves as high school and college students. Many of us have heard that gap years are a negative thing. Gap years are not negative, but a way to solidify your decisions.

Comments

  1. The first thing I would say is that usually solution comes before justification, so it might add clarity to switch those around. You have good details that help solidify the problem, it has good relatability to our audience. Remember to include sources to add ethos to your argument. An interview with someone who found a gap year beneficial would be a good, personal addition.

  2. You were very clear and provided a very well developed and organized outline. I would add more information on the benefits (go into depth on the points that you made). I would also add more in the solution section about more option that students could do after high school during a gap year.

    Ideas to Consider:

-I know that many foreign students that come to the United States for college and usually take a gap year. So right after high school many of them stay home for another year and get a job that goes along the lines of what they want to do. They also do a lot of self discovery that year and learn a lot of new things about themselves.

Overall good outline it should help you make a great PPT.
